Are you prone to this weird condition?

Something weird happens to the Achilles tendon that we can’t quite explain.

It can happen after the 3rd decade of life to men and women.

Pain typically starts suddenly and can be intense.

Some people describe feeling like someone kicked them.

The condition is called Achilles Tendinosis.

It shouldn’t be confused with Tendinitis.

Tendinitis refers to inflammation of a tendon.

Tendinosis refers to degeneration or scar-like tissue formation of a tendon.

Pain is given with both, but a lump often occurs when tendinosis is present.

The treatments that work for tendinitis such as ice, anti-inflammatory medication and avoiding strenuous activities typically don’t help tendinosis.

Degeneration or scar-like tissue of a tendon needs to be regenerated for the pain to subside.

At one time surgery was the only option to remove the scar-tissue.

Now, Shockwave Therapy and Regenerative Medicine can regenerate the tendon.

Some people report immediate relief with these methods.

Chronic pain of the Achilles tendon, especially above where the tendon attaches to the heel, must be checked for Tendinosis.

The faster we can make this diagnosis the faster we can eliminate the pain.

Helping you walk effortlessly is always our primary objective.
